Rome, Piazza della Repubblica. For a few months, videos of tourists and residents reporting suspicious activities in the alleys of central Rome have begun to circulate on the web. The area affected by these traffics appears to be between Via Nazionale, Piazza Esedra and Via XX Settembre.
But what activity is it? It is not clear but looking at some videos that have gone viral it would be a matter of a sale of ancient art objects among which there would even be a Cryptex! Yes, you understood correctly, one of those devices designed by Leonardo Da Vinci to keep secrets.
If you have seen “The Da Vinci Code” or read the book, you surely understand what we are talking about. Everyone remembers Professor Robert Langdon intent on rotating the rings of the Cryptex to recompose the word and open the object to extract its contents. This very object would be at the center of the trafficking in question.
But the reports don't just stop at these strange negotiations that take place in broad daylight and in the historic center. The most incredible thing is that among the latest videos posted online there is one in which a tourist gets close enough to be able to record some exchanges with his hidden phone.
Pretending to be interested in concluding a possible deal, the tourist asks in English the value of the object and after some general information the suspect turns to his accomplice and in Italian mentions his true aims, claiming to belong to an organization called Ordo Sapientia Imperi.
After sharing this video, the most imaginative and bizarre theories regarding this mysterious organization exploded on the web. According to someone it is a deviant branch of Freemasonry, like a secret organization that has to do with ancient mysteries of Rome. According to others it is a criminal organization that uses technological means to search for ancient objects and discover secrets linked to the Vatican. All with the aim of blackmailing influential and wealthy people.
We don't know exactly what the mystery behind this story is. What we can do is invite you to investigate yourself to find out if there isn't something bigger behind these shady individuals.
